With this in mind I spoke to a number of golf professionals, who have to play in any weather, for the key features that they would recommend and then set about doing my own research. One thing to note, these are never typically that warm, they are purely to try and keep you dry. It is worth noting that waterproof coating on Golf Trousers can wear out and typically only lasts a few years. My friends have found this out the hard way. They have put their golf over-trousers on during a rain storm and found that their normal trousers still get soaked. It is always a great idea to thoroughly dry your waterproof trousers outside of your bag after every use. Trust me, there is literally nothing worse than the rain coming down, you digging your waterproof golf trousers out and finding a mouldy smelly pair at the bottom of your bag.
When you have got home from your soggy round, take them out the bag, put them on an airer and let them dry naturally. Using a tumble drier or putting your waterproof golf trousers directly onto a boiling radiator can remove or damage the water proof coating. After all those warnings, I feel a bit like your golf mum!
