Tiger Woods has unveiled his fresh golf clothing collection with TaylorMade, marking a new chapter following the conclusion of his 27-year affiliation with Nike.
Woods is set to make an appearance at the Genesis Invitational this Thursday donning attire from the “Sun Day Red” line, a nod to his iconic colour choice for tournament finales. The brand’s logo features a tiger design, cleverly incorporating 15 stripes to signify the 15 major tournaments the 48-year-old has triumphed in.
Why Tiger Woods Launched Sun Day Red
“It’s the right moment in my life,” Woods shared at the Los Angeles launch. “This is a time of transition. I’ve grown beyond my younger days. I’m eager to move forward with a brand that fills me with pride. Sunday red – that’s quintessentially me. The tradition started with my mother [Kultida], who believed that, as a Capricorn, red was my power colour. Wearing red from my junior golf days led to victories.
“Interestingly, I found myself at a university drenched in red, Stanford. We donned red for the final day of every tournament, a practice that extended into my professional career. Red has become a hallmark of my identity.”
Where will Tiger Woods wear Sun Day Red for the first time?
Woods is preparing for his inaugural competitive outing of 2024 at the Riviera Country Club – a tournament that supports his foundation – as he makes another comeback from injury. The ex-world No. 1 had ankle surgery in April of the previous year after withdrawing from the Masters mid-tournament and only returned to competition at the Hero World Challenge in December.
Despite finishing 18th in a field of 20 in the Bahamas, Woods expressed satisfaction with his recovery and is optimistic about participating in one tournament monthly this season.
The introduction of the “Sun Day Red” collection comes after Woods ended his long-standing partnership with Nike in January. The collection’s logo, depicting a tiger with 15 stripes, symbolises his major championship victories.
Woods remarked, “Red has always been integral to my identity as a professional golfer. The ‘Sunday red’ encapsulates who I am. This legacy traces back to my mother [Kultida], who inspired this tradition believing in the astrological significance of red for a Capricorn like me.
“My journey took me to Stanford, a university where red dominated, cementing the tradition of wearing red on tournament finals.”
Woods is gearing up for his first PGA Tour event of the year at the Genesis Invitational in California, commencing on Thursday, 15 February.
Following ankle surgery last April and a hiatus from competition, Woods is now looking forward to a steady return, aiming to compete in one event per month throughout 2024.
Where and when can we buy Tiger’s New Golf Clothing?
We expect that Sun Day Red by Tiger Woods will be available largely via the Sun Day Red website. It may well appear across pro-shops as part of the tie up with Taylor Made and its own distribution channels.
The Sun Day Red website says that the new Tiger Woods clothing range will be available to buy from May 1st 2024.
Will it just be Men’s Golf Clothes? Will there be women’s and kids golf ranges by Sun Day Red?
The website says that it will initially launch with a men’s range on May 1st. They then plan to work on releasing a women’s and kids range as soon as possible. Wood’s himself has not confirmed this though.
