CHARITY GOLF DAYS

Reading Lions charity golf day 4 July 2025 – Hennerton Golf Club

Reading Lions are inviting golfers to get involved in a cracking charity golf day this summer. It’s set to be a proper feel-good fixture with all the right ingredients. The cost is £290 per team of four, which gets you far more than just 18 holes. The format is stableford, and players will kick off with a bacon roll and tea or coffee on arrival. That’s before even hitting a ball, so spirits will be high from the start. It’s the kind of day where everyone wins — even before the scores come in.

The event will include three free refreshment stations dotted across the course, keeping players fuelled throughout their round. After play, golfers will sit down to a tasty two-course buffet to refuel and relive the highs and lows. But the extras don’t stop there. There’s a beat the pro challenge, adding pressure and laughs in equal measure. And three hole-in-one competitions, including the chance to win £10,000 or an overseas golf holiday. Not bad for a charity day out in the sun.

These kinds of events remind us what makes golf so special. It’s a sport that brings people together while raising serious money for great causes. The Reading Lions have teed up a day that mixes proper competition with fun and fundraising. For £290 a team, it’s great value and even better vibes. The prizes are eye-catching, but the real win is supporting a local cause while doing what we love. Golf, grub, and a shot at £10k — what’s not to like?

I’ve been playing golf for over 10 years and currently play off a 14 handicap. My favourite course I’ve played is Bowood — a brilliant layout with plenty to think about. The toughest course I’ve faced? Bude. The weather was wild, the bounces unpredictable, and my swing decisions… debatable. Still, it’s the rounds like that which keep the game interesting. And humbling.
