This summer, a team of eight intrepid amateur golfers embarked on their most gruelling challenge yet—Project 24. Their mission? To play golf for 24 hours straight in Norway’s perpetual daylight, braving stormy weather, and all for a cause close to their hearts: raising funds for The Golf Trust to provide more opportunities for disabled individuals to enjoy the game.
The team not only met their ambitious target of £24,000 but smashed it, with the current total exceeding an impressive £40,000. These funds will be used to purchase Paragolfers, specialised vehicles that enable users with neuromuscular and spinal impairments to stand and play golf, offering a life-changing experience. The challenge’s name, ‘Project 24’, and the 24-hour marathon highlighted the fact that 24% of the UK population live with a registered disability.
Project 24 Supported by Reflo and The Golf Trust
Supported by The Golf Trust and sustainable performancewear brand Reflo, the team teed off on 20th June at the stunning yet physically demanding Lofoten Links in Norway. This world-renowned course, known for its beauty and difficulty, is transformed by the Midnight Sun into a land of perpetual daylight for a brief period each year. While the sunlit course provided a unique playing environment, it also presented a significant challenge as the golfers grappled with disrupted sleep cycles and relentless physical demands, clocking over 50,000 steps each without a moment’s rest.
The entire endeavour was captured on film and has been turned into a short documentary available on the Reflo YouTube channel. To further support the cause, Reflo has launched a limited-edition collection named MIDNIGHT SUN, with 50% of the profits going directly to Project 24. The collection, made entirely from recycled materials, includes stylish caps, T-shirts, and hoodies, along with bespoke limited edition golf bags, each hand-painted with Project 24 details. The capsule is available exclusively at Reflo.com.
A physically demanding challenge that brought people together
Rory MacFadyen, Co-Founder of Reflo and one of the golfers, reflected on the experience: “While it was a physically demanding project, there was so much to love about this challenge—the spirit of togetherness, the camaraderie, the beautiful location, and of course the lasting impact the fundraising will make. Golf can be so many things to so many people. It’s a peaceful escape, a chance to be present, and offers great physical and social benefits. This challenge wasn’t just about pushing ourselves; it was about ensuring more people can access the joys of golf, no matter their circumstances.”
Cae Menai-Davis, founder of The Golf Trust and leader of Project 24, shared his gratitude: “We initially aimed to purchase one Paragolfer, but the overwhelming support and momentum from this challenge mean we can do even more. Paragolfers change lives—not just for the users, but for their families and friends too. The impact of this machine is truly life-changing, and I’m humbled by the support we’ve received. What started as a 24-hour challenge has blossomed into something much bigger for disabled golf in the UK.”
Paragolfer user and trustee of The Golf Trust, Justin Levene, also highlighted the transformative power of this equipment: “The Paragolfer gives me a new perspective on life. Not only does it allow me to play golf, but it also lets me stand and experience the world in a way I never thought possible. The funds raised by Project 24 will ensure that more people can benefit from this incredible technology, just as I have.”
